Welcome to (Un)Popular Cultures- a blog about unusual cultural practices

Hi, I’m Zoë, a cultural studies enthusiast, research professional, dance teacher, and blogger!

I come from an academic background in cultural geography and subcultural studies, and have a PhD focussed on Goth cultures in Japan, USA, and UK. I’m currently based on London, working in market research and teaching Swing dancing.

I love to explore different cultural practices- internationally and locally- and started this blog as a means to share these experiences.

Join me as I celebrate niche elements of culture such as art, film, dance, literature, architecture, food, and fashion, that are perhaps not so well known in the popular imagination- the (un)popular aspects of life that surprise and fascinate me.
